What Does God Say About Money?
There are over 2000 scriptures that refer to money. “Rich” or “Riches” is in the bible 186 times. “Money” is in the bible 114 times. Jesus spoke more about money and/or stewardship than any other subject. The purpose of money is to build up the Kingdom of God (Deut 8:18) so that the great commission can be fulfilled. (the gospel is free; its just takes money to preach it.)
Jesus was born rich into royalty, and said we were to be like Him. The Magi’s gifts were worth $400 million in today’s dollars. Jesus owned a house (John 1:38-39), paid taxes (Matt. 17:24), was on the lecture circuit at age 12 (Luke 2:47), ran a business with his dad, had his own treasurer, had a management staff of 12 and later 72 more employees (Luke 10:17), had people giving financial support to his ministry (Luke 8: 2-3), wore valuable designer clothes (John 19:23-24), became poor once in his life for us (on the cross – 2Cor. 8:9), His first miracle was one of luxury in a setting of wealth (John 2: 1-8), and He had the money to buy lunch for 5,000 men (John 6:7).
Wealth is the ability to obtain what is immediately required.
Prosperity is having enough provision to complete God’s instructions. Money doesn’t bring happiness, but it brings more happiness than poverty ever did. Tithing is not a method of getting money from you; it is a method of getting money to you.
Money is the answer to everything. (Ecc. 10:19b)
Poverty is not a financial problem; It is a spiritual one. – a curse (Deut. 28: 1). Worldly wealth is all about financial accumulation for self. True prosperity is all about financial accumulation for God who wants you to use it for distribution to others.
Meditate on the Word and you will be prosperous. (Jos 1:8)
The greatest tragedy of human existence is to not know, what you don’t know. Now you know . . .
So what are you going to do about it?
